1. The level is uneven
Speaking English is different from teaching English. Just as not all Chinese can teach Chinese, not all foreigners are qualified to teach English and can teach English well. The reality is that the current level of foreign teachers in China is uneven, although there are also excellent foreign teachers, but the number is too small. Many schools and training institutions have the idea that "foreign monks are good at reciting scriptures". They do not strictly check their qualifications when recruiting. As long as they are a foreign face (some foreign teachers' mother tongue is not even English). Many foreign teachers have not received formal normal education or related teaching training, and lack the basic knowledge of language education. There are also some foreign teachers who come to China not to teach, just to earn some travel expenses, and they are not interested in teaching. Such a teacher is not helpful to the improvement of students' English ability.
2. Lack of in-depth understanding of Chinese students
English teaching is a job with a certain threshold. It is not enough for a foreign teacher to speak English only. It is better to have at least one foreign language learning experience. Only in this way can we deeply perceive the differences between the two language systems and know where the students' difficulties lie in the process of language learning. However, there are not many foreign teachers who can persist in learning a foreign language (whether it is Chinese or not), and most people only know English. This makes it difficult for them to understand the difficulties encountered by Chinese students, and the actual teaching effect is not as good as that of Chinese teachers.
